Lot Applicant,
The City of Eureka is offering a program aimed at increasing our population and stimulating growth in our rural community. The program is widely known as homesteading or offering free residential lots for individuals and families to construct a home. This may sound familiar since the program has been recognized by many national news organizations including the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather.
The large lots are located in one of our neatest historical neighborhoods. This will provide enough space to construct virtually any size home you wish on location. Even better - there are no special assessment requirements for the lots and the new owner will only be responsible to pay for the cost of extending and connecting their own utilities.
Our program is simple. The applicant will be required to perform only a few minor tasks:
1. The applicant will be required to fill out a free lot application , a homestead agreement and include information such as when they will be available to attend a meeting to sign the agreement, which lot they want, if the applicant wants to start a business, etc. (A site visit is recommended to decide which lot to choose)
2. The city may perform a background check on the applicant. Upon satisfactory results of the background check, the application will be forwarded to the Mayor and the application will be placed on the city council meeting agenda for the time specified in the application.
3. The applicant will be required to attend a city council meeting where the Mayor will sign the agreement for the free lot, and the applicant will be introduced to the council and other community members.
4. The lot will be then be transferred to the individual(s) for use as their new home location.
There
are a few requirements to the type of home that is constructed
on the lots including but not limited to:
-
The
home shall be at least 1,000 square feet;
-
The
home shall not be a manufactured or mobile home; however
suitable modular homes will be allowed; and
-
The
lot owner must have the concrete poured for the foundation
within one year of the conveyance of the property. Given
the historical significance of the neighborhood, we encourage
prospective new residents to construct a home that maintains
the harmony of existing structures.

I
hope that you find this offer too good to pass up and consider
joining our community. There is no doubt that your
insight and talents will assist us in reaching our goals
of defying the odds of declining growth. One thing is for
certain, you will not regret moving to this community and
living the good life in a rural town.
Thanking
you for your consideration,
Brian Garrels
