This Saturday, June 10, the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life will kick off its 21st year in Greenwood County. The event will take place from 6 p.m. through 12 a.m. at Memorial Hall, in Eureka. Relay For Life is a family-oriented team event where participants walk relay-style around the track and take part in fun activities off the track. Teams can include co-workers, club members, family and friends who have gathered donations prior to the event. The Relay For Life program consists of fundraising events meant to symbolize a cancer patient’s journey through cancer. The light and darkness of the day and night parallel the physical effects, emotions and mental state of a cancer
patient while undergoing treatment.The schedule is as follows:

6:00 p.m. Opening Ceremony Intro/Welcome
Survivor/Caregiver Lap
“Dunk-A-Cop” Dunk Tank Begins. A fundraiser for
the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office Relay For Life Team
6:30 p.m. The “Chicken Dance” and the “Conga Line” will be played
throughout the evening. Please dance appropriately.
Various Fundraisers Will Be Held Throughout The Evening.
7:00 p.m. Scavenger Hunt (Mission Message)
A prize will be given to a team member on the “track.”
Team members should pick up a box and supplies to decorate it
for the Relay for Life Road to Recovery Car Show and Race
(scheduled at 8 p.m.)
7:30 p.m. Ladder Golf
8:00 p.m. RFL Road to Recovery Car Show and Race
(2 people from each team to participate)
9:00 p.m. Luminaria Ceremony
10: 00 p.m. Hero Hunt
11:00 p.m. Silent Auction Ends; Quilt Winner Announced
Frozen T-Shirt Contest
11:30 p.m. Lawn Yahtzee
12:00 a.m. Closing Ceremony
