Eureka Social Networking Goes Viral

Eureka alumni Matthew Marshall created a "Group" on the popular Facebook site to support the Eureka Foundation and grow the network. In a matter of a few weeks the group exploded to over 190 members, many of whom had not heard about the Foundation before. The new Facebook group was the topic of lively discussion during the annual meeting, as the Foundation looks for ways to engage younger generations and keep news and issues timely and fresh.

"We've been sending out paper newsletter each quarter or so," commented Matt Wilson, "but these folks want news that's minutesoldor it's considered old news!" A study of the 197 members as of this writing showed that only 12 were currently members of the Foundation, showing the challenges and opportunities of social networking as a way to grow the Foundation and engage new members. A totally new Foundation website and online membership system has been launched, focusing on new technology and capitalizing on social networking to not only gain new members, but to spread the work about Eureka and find new opportunities to bring people and prosperity to our fair town.
