Eureka Downs: The Horse Racing Capital of Kansas
What is currently going on at Eureka Downs?
There are 50 head of horses on the grounds getting exercised daily to run at racetracks outside the state of KS. Why are they not running in Kansas? Both tracks in Kansas (Anthony and Eureka) are struggling to put on a race meet this year.With the closing of The Woodlands in Kansas City, and the Wichita Greyhound Park in Wichita, the money to operate the small tracks is non-existent. Eureka and Anthony both received a percentage of simulcast money from Wichita and Kansas City. Now that simulcast money is not available..
The Eureka Downs Management Committee is working diligently with outside agencies to provide a non-parimutuel race meet for the 2010 season. Dates have not been set , but horseman all over the state of Kansas are wanting to race horses at Eureka Downs.
