How to help Eureka by donating money and property to the Foundation
In 2005, the IRS approved the Foundation’s 501c3 non-profit application, opening the door to tax-deductible donations, endowments, and grants.
Much of the charitable giving from Eureka patrons leaves the area, going to national organizations and universities. The Foundation gives folks a chance to give back to Eureka to promote prosperity and local projects.
Most private and public grant programs also require that the organization have 501c3 status. The Foundation is particularly seeking funding to allow them to hire full time staff to execute projects and pursue other sources of funding. “For years, we’ve put economic development on the back burner, and Eureka has suffered” says Matt Wilson, President of the Foundation. “In my view, ensuring the future of Eureka is not a spare time job.”
Several projects have been proposed, including an enclosed arena, expanded demolitions, a riverfront development, an industrial park, Main Street revitalization, a tourism center, training programs, a business incubator, a call center, airport expansion, and many others. Donors can also specify their own economic development project for their funds if they wish.
Ways you can help:
- Simply click on the link on the right part of this screen to donate money via Paypal or credit card. As little as $5.00 helps a lot!
- Mail a check to the foundation and we'll send you a receipt for tax purposes.
- Check with your company to see if they have a matching gifts program for non-profits.
- Consider leaving money or other assets to the Foundation in your estate.
- Donate equipment and materials for use on Foundation projects.
- Buy a life insurance policy that designates the Eureka Foundation as beneficiary
- If you have a big tax bill, instead of giving it to Uncle Sam, give it to the Foundation and reduce your tax bill. With some tax credit programs, you can actually get over 100% credit on taxes, effectively making money on your donation.
