EUREKA, KS  – July 5, 2018  –   Mediacom Communications reports that its technical operations and construction crews have been on the ground working to restore services and replace damaged network lines each day since the June 26 EF3 tornado struck Eureka homes and businesses. Local crews worked daily, and additional Mediacom technicians from other areas of Kansas volunteered to come to Eureka on the July 4th holiday to complete a home-by-home service assessment.

As of this morning (July 5), dropped cable lines have been re-hung and construction crews are working to replace a three-mile span of the Mediacom network located where the worst storm damage occurred. The largest section of line damage is located along East 7th Street, between State and Jefferson Streets.

Between 20 and 30 customers have been without Mediacom services due to the line replacement underway in that area. The company anticipates that network lines will to be rebuilt and services re-connected on Monday, July 9.

Most customers in other areas of Eureka were able to access Mediacom’s high-speed internet and cable TV services after commercial / electrical power was restored. Within an hour following the tornado’s strike, Mediacom installed a generator to ensure a steady power supply for its network. A local gas station was given a date of July 20 or later to be re-connected to internet services provided by a major telephone company, and as an alternative, Mediacom brought a speedy internet connection to that business within four hours so that credit card machines would be fully operational for customer transactions.
